4.3 Bereavement leave
4.3.1 Qualifying Events
Bereavement leave may be taken for the loss of a close family member. Eligible family members typically include:
Spouse or domestic partner.
Child (including stepchildren and legal wards).
Parent (including stepparents).
Sibling (including stepsiblings).
Grandparent.
Grandchild.
4.3.2 Duration of Bereavement Leave
Eligible employees may be granted up to 7 days of paid bereavement leave per qualifying event. The specific duration of leave may vary based on local laws and company policy.
4.3.3 Notification & Documentation
Employees should notify their immediate supervisor or manager as soon as possible when they need to take bereavement leave.
Documentation, such as an obituary or death certificate, may be requested to verify the need for bereavement leave.
4.3.4 Unpaid Bereavement Leave
If an eligible employee has exhausted their paid bereavement leave, they may request unpaid leave to continue dealing with their loss. The duration of unpaid leave will be determined on a case-by-case basis.
